A solitary eastern storehouse where the sea’s approach is measured on the walls.
The tower stands inland of the southeastern shore. Salt blooms in its mortar at a height no living tide reaches. Engineers call it a relic of an older coast; priests say it is a record of promises dissolved by water.
The Salt Tower Vigil began when ceramic heat jars burst in the storehouse without warming the room. Ossa Sere found that the warmth had moved into the tower's foundation instead. A staircase below the sealed cellar grows drier with each shipment. Opening it may reveal a harbor older than the present coastline.
