Build your first connected world

Start with one place, one person and one reason their stories meet.

  1. Choose a small starting point

Explore the fantasy or sci-fi example first. For your own world, generate a setting from the home page and save it to your account. Creating and saving requires an active subscription or trial. You can develop an imported setting instead; there is no need to replace maps you already love.

  2. Give one place a purpose

Open Lore & Codex and choose a place on your map, or create an entry with New. Write a short summary: what makes this place different, who lives here, and what has just changed? A few useful sentences are enough.

  3. Add someone who belongs there

Create a character. Open their entry, choose Edit, and give them a desire and an obstacle. Use the relationships controls to connect them to the place. Pick the existing entry so the connection points to the same record.

  4. Connect the prose

In an article or chapter, use Link entry to insert a reference to that character or place. Follow the resulting link, then return to the original page. This makes your notes navigable without copying the same biography everywhere.

  5. Return to something useful

Writers can open Writing and draft a scene using these references. Game masters can open Sessions, create a session, and prepare a short opening involving the same place and character. Wait for saving to finish, reopen the entry, and check your work.
