Harbor Cooperative
Shipwrights, pilots and households collectively owning Meridian’s working harbor.
The Cooperative owns docks and maintenance equipment, not the water between them. Membership can be earned through care work as well as ship work. Every launch crew includes an elected safety observer who can stop departure without losing pay, a rule the members fought three councils to preserve.
The unfinished Rainward ferry has become its hardest decision. Cancelling construction would strand a neighborhood; finishing might fulfill the prediction. The Cooperative has invited residents to propose alternate hulls, routes and launch dates instead of forcing a vote between two frightening guesses.
A terraced ocean city whose public transport timetable doubles as its constitution.
A neighborhood surveyor protecting the right to build an uncertain future.
Archivists who certify which version of a message actually arrived.
Five inhabited systems share a network that has begun receiving tomorrow’s distress calls.
A new district learning to negotiate with a city that calls it temporary.
An industrial city beneath shielding ribs on a mineral-rich frontier world.
