The person
Vaelor signed the order that darkened the towers, claiming the ports could not feed more arrivals. He can recite the available grain tonnage but not the names of the lost ships. He wants a private hearing to protect serving officers. His granddaughter Lin has promised him fairness, which he keeps mistaking for secrecy.
Place in the family
Their children are Ilyra Sere and Ossa Sere. Family authority does not settle the disagreement described above.
Ilyra won the convenership by reopening winter supply routes.
Ossa left command school for the Gableclay kilns, preferring vessels whose failures could be tested.
The Sere family supplies pilots and signal officers to the League of Lanterns.
Essra designed mirror shutters that can be operated by a single exhausted keeper.
Eastern rescue lights were deliberately darkened while refugee vessels waited offshore.
Hedra records the sound of furnace valves by making notches in a wooden flute.
